Banda Singh Bahadur | Sikh Military | Great Warrior

Baba Banda Singh Bahadur  was born in the year 16 October, 1670 who is originally belongs to the Jammu region and he is considered as one of the greatest Sikh Warrior. Baba Singh who born in the Rajput family on 1670 at Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir, Northern India. The real name of Banda Singh Bahadur was named as Lachman Dev. His Hobbies are Wrestling, Horse Riding and Hunting. He was very energetic from the childhood age only because from early he has a intension to become an warrior.

But as he was expert in hunting one day he shot a doe and was shocked to watch that her mother aborted fawn writhing in pain and dying. After this scene, he completely changed his outlook of life. Soon he left his home and become a recluse. After few days of living in jungle he met a Bairagi Sadhu, Janaki Das and became his disciple. This Bairagi Sadhu gave him the name as Madhao Das. Afterward he joined the company of that Biragi Sadhu and travelled through Northern India and finally reached to Nanded in Central India, which is situated in the bank of the river Godavari, where he built a hut and started Meditating.

After Some time, one day Madho Das was meditating under the tree and suddenly his disciples came to him and saying that someone has captured our hut and they started cooking at our hut than an than Madho Das got angry and he tried some of his tricks to humiliate those person who captured their hut. But than he came to know that the person to whom he tried to humiliate with his tantra mantra is none other than Guru Gobind Singh. Than, he knee down in front of Guru ji and said that I am your “Banda” Guru ji. After that Guru ji gave him a tight hug and both of them had a long conversation. Than Guru ji told Banda to give up his all present recluse lifestyle and also asked him to resume all of his duties of true warrior.

Guru Gobind Singh imagined that Bahadur Shah would full fill promise and do capture Punjab. And after that Guru deputed Madho Das under the leadership of five Sikhs, to end Mujhal persecution in Punjab. After few days Guru held a meeting at his darbar where Madhao Das baptized with Khanda di pahal and conferred with the title “Banda Singh Bahadur”. Guru Gobind Singh appointed Banda Singh as his military lieutenant and invested him with full military and political power to lead the campaign in Punjab against the Evil mughal administration and to punish Nawab Wazir Khan.

Banda was supplied with full arms and more than twenty five soldiers were act as Banda’s Bodyguard. A Handwritten order came from Guru Ji where he instructed all the other Sikhs to join Banda’s company. Before going to the Battle field Guru ji gave his own sword, green bow, five arrows from his quiver and a Nishan Sahib so that Banda can defeat Wazir Khan at the battlefield. This is how Banda Singh defeat Wazir Khan in the battlefield of Sirhind.
